Looking at a Military college?

I’ve been looking at the Air Force Academy, and it looks for the most part like I’m competitive to get in.
the only problem is my GPA. I’m a really good student, but last year I chose to party all year pretty much and my GPA dropped from a 4.0 to a 2.9. this year i got back on track and have managed to bring it up again, and I just wanted to know if you all think that i still might have a chance?

If there is anyone who knows about the any of the academies please help me out

Here is everything I have to Offer:
3.26 GPA unweighted
30 ACT
Eagle Scout
Latin club 2 yrs
Frisbee club 2 yrs
3 yrs amateur boxing
3 yrs Muay Thai
1 yr Swim Team
1 yr Band 3 yrs Advanced Band
Drum line Section Leader
2 yrs working part time
1 yr hospital volunteer

2 AP classes junior year, 3 AP classes senior year
(AP US History, AP English III, AP US Government, AP Calculus I, AP Chemistry II)

I’m a junior now, and this is everything until Christmas break next year
(GPA will be around a 3.3)
…duh?
and i am in public school

GPA is on the low side; competitive applications just for a congressional nomination are at least 3.6. As you already noted, you pretty much made the sacrifice when your grades blew. Competition for a nomination is extremely fierce and so the tiniest thing to mess you up will cost you. There are just hundreds of other students waiting in line behind you. Especially for the next few years this will be further the case by the poor economy causing students to flock to a full ride college program plus stipend. You have more competition now than ever in history.

You might want to seriously look into ROTC at a state school. Honestly your grades are just state school material.

  • Not 2nite...Im not in the mood!!

Don’t do it. Unless you want to live a strict lifestyle where you have no freedoms, unlike public school (which gives you inumerable freedoms), and its a living hell. They shave your head, you wear a dresscode (camo military clothes), you *always* answer, "Yessir"
