i teach classes at chicagoboxingclub.com, lol free advertisment.
i like to start guys out in the ring to get a feel of what i feel everyday, but no pain is felt safety first.
no respectful boxing gym will have a new comer up and sparring on the first day. gyms teach form, then skill, then knowledge of boxing. i grantee on the first day you will be taught how to throw punches correctly and accurately, how to defend your self in and out the ring. As classes progress, you will learn speed and strenght training, how to move, and in a time of 3 weeks you will become effecient at boxing and will be able to spar and fight if you are ready.
DONT BE NERVOUS GO OUT AND TAKE A CLASS. ITS A GREAT WAY TO GET AND SHAPE AND LEARN HOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF IN A TIGHT SITUATION.:)

The first you learn to do is stand correctly.W/O proper balance your grangmother could knock you down. You do not just start swinging to learn anything. These things take time-you’ll either want to learn or you won’t want to.

Usually you wouldnt even start in a ring. You would start learning the basics on how to properly throw punches etc.
Probabaly work on mits , bags etc.
Then you would have option to spar or fight later on down the road.
So no , most places wont just throw you into the ring.

They usually don’t even let you in the ring without a long while of jumping rope and punching the bag. When you do get in the ring you aren’t fighting first off, but practicing stance, effective punching, and ab strength. After you are assessed you will get a sparing partner that can match your style for you to spar with.

No, you don’t get in the ring right away. You’d get embarrassed like that. You take it a step at a time, like learning to stand, footwork and punch properly.
