Should Boxing be in UK schools?
March 10th, 2010 | by admin |I think that there should at least be after school classes if not part of the P.E curriulum.
Definitely. Even if it is just training and no sparring or contests. It will teach discipline and encourage kids to take it up out of schools, keeping them off the street. If it is introduced nationally, look to see petty crime figures drop across the country.

deffinantly for the reasons everybody has said, but it would almost stop fights within the school if they where allowed to spar, what a way to sort arguments out in school!

No. Imagine the school bully learning to box? he’d be a mini Sonny Liston making the smaller kids lives hell. Not worth it, if a youth wants to learn defence, its best to be independant and find a boxing club and such.

Yes it should. When we had a disagreement in my younger days we went into the gym and put the gloves on. I remember bashing a school bully, he threw the gloves off and ran out of the gym. The problem is theses days, health and safety and the propensity for being sued is a barrier towards stopping schools engaging in boxing.
The point made about Rugby is a good one, is it a class thing i wonder ??
