What’s the size limit for posting letters in the UK?

I have an A4 envelope to put some a4 sheets in, they can’t be folded, simply because they need to be kept uncreased, anyway, i need to post it, it’s not heavy or thick, just A4 size, I have one first class stamp, can I just put it in the local postbox, or do I need a special stamp because it’s too big, also, how do I get it in the mail box?
I’m sending it to a company.

You have to take it post office if it can’t feet side ways through the letter box.

One stamp won’t be enough. Firsty, make sure you put it in an envelope with card in to stop it creasing. The post office weighs it and prints out a prepaid sticker & pops it on2 the letter. They then put it into a sac which the postie takes.

If it fits through your (or a normal letter box) it is ok to go as a letter – the only thing is the weight might mean it costs more than 1 first class stamp – have a look at royalmail.com it might help
