Is this a good way to lose fat and gain muscle?

i tore my meniscus about 3 months ago and was out for 2 months and have been getting in shape for about a month now. I used to weigh 190, but after i tore my meniscus i weighed 203. This past month i have gone to LA FItness and went to Kick boxing and boxing classes that last an hour each monday – thursday and saturday morning. After each workout i drink an isopure zero carb drink that comes in a glass bottle with 40 g of preotien…i have lost 5 pounds in a month so far…what can i expect in results for the next 2-3 months? I do eat a lot, but have cut back eating after my workouts which all are at 8 p.m… btw, im 19, 5’9.

You are doing well!

However your diet — what you eat — is important to develop into a healthy one, with a balance and mix of good healthy foods. At 19 your body can run on a bad diet, since all internal systems are at their peak of lifetime ability. But long term a bad diet will take a hit on them. A monotonous diet is a bad diet. Personally I don’t like any ‘zero’ anything. And I fear high protein diets — I like what some might consider a high fat diet, as long as they are natural fats.

The diet plan under P90X is a low-carb low-fat approach that is healthy enough. Me, I’d have more fats in it, as a percentage of calories.

From what you describe you’ll be continuing to lose, maybe another 10-12 pounds in three months. But work on developing great lifetime eating habits.

As long as your work out is designed for you. Also you don’t gain muscle its already there you just have to use them they get tighter when you work them and if you don’t they relax and pull apart fat and muscle are completely separate things.
