I joined the gym for the weights, but want to hit the heavy bag and do one of the cardio boxing classes to get in shape. The class requires full covered gloves, where fingers are not exposed. I went to Sports Authority, and tried a few on. The Everlast are all one size fits all, is that correct? I tried a 12oz. 14oz. and a 16oz. and they all feel ok, maybe a little snug. I’m 5’11" 170 lbs, and I don’t have that big of hands, actually maybe on the small side. For a gold glove I wear a medium/large. My question is, once I buy a wrap, will these gloves be too tight or do they loosen up over time? Any suggestions?
I don’t want to spend more than $50 for a pair because not going to be fighting anyone.
Where do I find gloves? I hate to buy online cause then I can’t try them on.
Most gloves they sell in sporting goods stores are not of good quality. The majority of them, even if they are Everlast are made of vinyl. Go online and shop at ringside.com or titleboxing.com. They sell good quality leather bag gloves under 50 bucks. You don’t need to buy training gloves or competition gloves because, as you say, you’re just going to be working on the heavy bag. All gloves are generally one size (gloves for women are smaller). They will fit snug at first but the leather does stretch and the gloves will get "broken in" with use. I will also suggest you buy Mexican style hand wraps. They are slightly elastic and will give you a good wrap. If your hands are on the small side try 120" – 160" wraps they should be able to give your hands the protection they need. The quality you will get for the money you spend buying them online will offset your concern about not being able to try them on. I’ve bought many training and bag gloves online and the fit, for me, has never been a concern.
buy twins gloves 8oz, i used them for bag work.

Don’t use boxing gloves for the bag, youll just ruin the gloves, buy bag gloves, there thin and filled with foam and will run you 20 to 30 dollars at walmart.

in the boxing gloves you tried on at least one of them should of had a small bar in them. that bar is there for you to hold on to it when you swing at the bag. if you dont hold on to that bar its a greater possibility to break your wrist. thats why you cant swing too hard. if there is no bar then i dont know what to say about that but to be careful on how hard your swinging. you have to know how to hit the bag properly so you can lessen the chance of a broken wrist. You can go to modells and ask for a pair of supportive everlast gloves that fit you. everlast works and it last long.
