Alright, So i am trying to start a boxing training center – basically I want to have a decent sized gym with ‘possibly’ a ring…[depending on size, obviously].

my ideas for the layout would be something like;
A series of bags, spaced enough to give room to people hitting the bag
A Ring [for sparring/practice]
Cardio area [a few bikes/treadmills or something of that sort]
A small free weight area [for a simple arm workout/wrist work out, etc]
Padding on all floors and walls.

Now, I’m interested to hear some ideas or some way to write a business plan that really makes sense. I’d need some info such as since it will be a training center, there won’t be any ‘classes’, but maybe I would like to incorporate them for the beginners….

I’m really a little lost, but would love for some advice, someone who maybe wants to talk with KNOWLEDGE of either owning a real business or into the boxing business [this will be in new jersey]

przewozj@gmail.com

jasonprzewoznik@yahoo.com – yahoo msgr

try to think of it more this way.

do people in your area want/need a(nother) training centre?

not i’ll make a training centre and hope people come…

find out what people want and supply it.

I enjoy boxing purely for the fun of it, though when I get in the ring in a competition then it’s a completely different story. Boxing with my buddies is for the fun since there is no money or fame at stake, ring action is when I have to get aggressive, I don’t wish to look like a smuck in front of a crowd and try my best to win the money. Did some backyard boxing with my friends on numerous occasions but sometimes it gets a little out of hand.

The first Wild Card BC which has amazing trainers that only offer private training and Gio’s Brooklyn Boxing Gym which has a good rep in my area and offers 3 group classes per week. From your personal experience would I benefit more from once a week private training from highly reputable trainers or three group classes a week with some good trainers with decent backgrounds?

Wild Card BC – http://www.wildcardbc.com/
Gio’s Brooklyn BC – http://www.giosboxing.com/
Can some of you be original and not copy and paste? And please state a source such as some experience…. Otherwise what you say means nothing but the points you are trying to earn.
Can someone add some details instead of just saying 1 or the other for points?

From personal experience go with the more days a week. Just remember to always practice in your spare time cause that’s what will make you better

I’m an amateur cage fighter/boxer. I was bullied ferociously in Elementary school. My dad was very absent during my childhood, I was only around my mother and older sisters. For 6 years I endured constantly being punched, kicked, and having my nose broken. I used to get home full of bruises because of the rocks the other kids would throw at me, I used to get contusions because sometimes the rocks would hit me on the head, on winters, sometimes I would burn up in fever because the other kids would throw me into big puddles of cold water.

My mother NEVER let me enroll into a self-defense class. It was only until I turned 18 that I got into karate training, then into boxing training, then into krav maga training, then into jiu jitsu training, then into muay thai training. Eventually I became an amateur boxer and cage fighter. I have gotten paid for some fights, but I’m not a pro.

My nephew just turned 5 years old, I want to take him to the boxing gym to teach him how to box before he enrolls in Elementary. I have some friends who are taking their boys to learn boxing as soon as 3 years old. My sister was no problem with me teaching my nephew boxing, but my mother is making a HUGE scandal, and threatened to stop babysitting my nephew if I take him boxing.

My mother and sisters are very aware at the way I was physcially abused in Elementary school. My mother NEVER let metake self-defense training, and now she doesn’t want my nephew to get any either.

What can I do?

There has been a lot of stories of kids commiting suicide as a result of bullying. All you need to do is show her those articles and if that doens’t change her mind, then do it behind her back. You need to get this kid in the boxing gym. Mine is 7 and he’s training with me. I try not to overwhelm him, so I take him once a week and make it fun.

What do you do in Boxing classes, Like what should I expect? Lastly, How does it all work just in general?

Thank You so much.

just sign up for lessons under the supervision of a good reputable coach that is certified with US Amateur boxing so you don’t become a punching bag. Aside from that try to run about 3 times a week and you will get better.

So, here is the ordeal i am in. I want to take up boxing classes, but there is one problem. CLASSES ARE SUPER EXPENSIVE! There are a limited amount of Boxing classes in Sacramento, CA. Only about four different classes. Two of those four, are a 40 minute drive. So those are out of the question. So i went to this boxing class (name shall not be said). But you go 3 times a week (classes are only 45 minutes long, with a group of 15 people), cost $300 dollars. Plus if you want to spar, you have to pay a additional $250 dollars on Tuesdays. So I’m looking at almost $600 dollars! But my dad said its probably expensive because they make champions there. But here is my other option. I ran into a man at the park. He was a older man. We played a couple games of basketball, and we began to talk. And after a while, he told me his name was Richard Duran. Now if you don’t know who that is, he is a 5 time Golden Gloves Champion, and a 3 time Olympic boxing champion. He also went Pro, and had 30 fights, and only lost 3. He didn’t really have a big name in boxing. But he retired at a very early age due to a illness. He said he likes my spirit, and he believes in me. He said he will train me for free, and pass down everything he knows. He said he has a home gym, and he will set up a route for me to run and all that. It’s sort of like I’m Rocky and he is Paulie Pennino lol. So what do you guys think? Should i follow in his dream, or pay for the expensive lessons? Please no negative comments. We can all be mature here. Thanks.
Yes i am a man lol.
Weill I’m 18. So maybe a "Young Man" lol.
By the way, It is the real Richard Duran. He is not some pedophile, or some weirdo thats trying to bring me to his home. I thought i should just say that, before immature people start with there jokes….
Yes, i want to be a boxer.

I’d say go for it, to be able to have somebody teach you the necessary skills to box and for free is an offer not to pass up. If he is the legitimate person and has that good of a win reputation whether or not he is well known is the best way for you to learn the skills and save you a lot of money. How could you ask for anything better?. Go for it and good luck in your training, work hard and you too might get to be as good as he was.
