But my question is will I still continue to grow muscle if I take up kickboxing classes? I did some research and apparently alot of cardio burns muscle mass and turns it into energy. And boxing is cardio. I dont know if thats true but it seems believable. I just started the class 2 weeks ago in my school so I havent really seen any results……

185 pounds 5,8 very athletic, but got extra weight I needa get rid of. Go to a boxing class 3 days a week. On the days i’m not going how much should I run, jog, skip etc. Specific to me personally ty.

Best way to build muscle you mean?

To get rid of your extra flab, keep doing cardio and boxing. 30-60 minutes is great(5x week). Get yourself a set of dumbbells and a medicine ball and you can find different lifts online to specify for a muscle group. I’ve used this site to find exercises to target arms, back and shoulders. There’s also youtube videos if you need to get some extra cardio in to burn fat.

http://weight-training.realsolutionsmag.com/

So keep doing what you’re doing! If you haven’t started eating clean, I’d suggest you do so. What you put into your body reflects your shape.

hope that helps:)!

I work out 5-6 days a week doing cardio classes, such as Turbo Kick Boxing, Step Aerobics, and cycling. I don’t care to lose any more weight, but I would like to lose the overall fat. My midsection, inner thighs, and cheeks (face) are not what I’d like. I know I’m not fat, by any means, but I’d like to be lean. Any suggestions? By the way, I’m 5’7 and about 120 lbs.
Again, I don’t want to lose weight. The question is body fat. I eat generally healthy and my caloric intake is reasonable. It’s the belly and love handles that I can’t get rid of. Suggestions for this?

I have a question… why do u want to lose that, your 5’7" and 120 lbs, do u want to be anorexic??

I am going back to the gym after being gone way, way too long. I’m looking to shed around 40 lbs. mostly from my mid section and I have been watching what I eat more carefully and on a 5 day work out schedule that consists of a 1 hr intense boxing class that I really enjoy M,W,F and is a really good upper body cardio workout and 60 mins of cardio (20 mins split up of Stairmaster, Elipticle and treadmill) lower body T and Th. My question is I would like to fit some strengh training in there via free weights on Weds instead of the boxing class but I am not sure if working on weights once a week is a good idea.

Go ahead and do it. Obviously you won’t see the same results from lifting once a week as you would from lifting three times a week, but your body will still respond. Also, since it sounds as if you’re getting a pretty good amount of cardio from your boxing workout, you could consider cutting your Tuesday/Thursday cardio workouts to half an hour and add in half an hour of strength training. Just remember that if you do strength training on multiple days, you need to allow the body parts you work at least 48 hours of rest before working them again. Bottom line though, while one day of strength training a week won’t get you on any magazine covers, it’ll still do your body a lot of good.

if anyone shares the same story as me please let me know and give me your experience. I fractured my hand like 3 months ago and it still hurts sometimes when i grip hard on something. Thing is I haven’t worked out and have gained weight.(im fat, but still have all that bulk from heavy weightlifting, but lost strength in weightlifting terms.) Thing is I want to start boxing classes to get a good cardio workout and start losing pounds. But im afraid my hand will bug me. I hit the bag and it doesn’t hurt that much but i think when i receive punches to my hands(blocking punches from sparring, or give blows they will hurt. And I don’t want to look like a wussy and back down from sparring. What do you all think?

Nope, you must start with the cardiovascular basics, not the shadow boxing the punching bag. The most important thing is kilter your body, so that eventually your fractured hand will adapt a usual way of moving or sweating without swelling when you hit the bags more.

This will give your muscles a strong lift to balance the force. Also, be sure not just to practice your hands, but your body coordination. In this case, when you grip something, it gives the flow motion of your body enough strength to lift things you can’t normally lift with your aging hand right now, most importantly with ease.
